Fall Blessings

Babes in DeutschlandWe’ve slowly been checking things off of our fall bucket list, we’ve picked apples, traversed a corn maze, and and I’ve sewn the kids Halloween costumes, but there is still so much that I want to take in this autumn! I suppose we’ve also road tripped and baked lots of fall treats, we’ve had potlucks and bonfires and worn layers for the first time in years, but I am just so entranced with all of the German, autumn magic that I just want to do everything at once. I suppose this is what three years in Hawaii will do to you! Honey Cinnamon Applesauce, great for kids or adults!I’ve been reading 1,000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp and as anyone who has ever read the book can tell you, it really helps you hone in and focus on grace driven thanks for all of the small blessings that make up a day. So today, we are thankful for apples, hand picked from a new friends’ tree. I’m thankful for their Christ centered hospitality and invitation to sup in their home earlier this week. I’m thankful for peach mango chutney and perfectly roasted sweet potatoes, for long ‘get to know you’ conversations and their sweet way with kids. Continue reading

Roots and Wings

Well that was a nice little weekend… not nearly long enough, but are they ever? We’ve been enjoying being low key, not doing anything too exciting, in the good kind of way! My yoga pants are on, and I can sit and dreamily listen to my music for the first time since the move (I recently got a new computer, all of the music was stored on an external hardrive in our packed household goods… long story short, Pandora was the only option for the past six months)!

I’m currently both looking at and listening to my music since I redid our chalkboard contact paper wall.
