I nominate that every weekend should be a four day weekend, because we are surely enjoying having Jon home and all of the traveling we’re able to do! This weekend we went to Frankfurt which is about two hours away from us. It’s a much larger, more modern city with giant skyscrapers and a futuristic Hilton, like seriously this thing looks like it just flew off the set of Battlestar Galactica. We need to stay there.
The drive was pleasant; both kids, thankfully, do really well in the car. We were among the first visitors to the Seckenberg Museum of Natural History and that worked out awesomely as the kids could run around without worrying about them getting lost and most of my snapshots are free of tourists!
Aurora loves dinosaurs and Grayson loves dinosaur noises, so I knew this was a must do activity while we were here. There are a lot of museums in Frankfurt, a zoo, plenty of shopping and food, we will definitely be going back for more!
My little animal scientist had to try out each of the animals movements as we went from exhibit to exhibit. She has an incredible imagination and I love it. Once again, I’m really glad that there weren’t very many people there when we were so that she could hop around!
Little man is fiercely independent, he MUST walk himself, especially if Aurora gets to walk. He was in heaven cruising around on his own, exploring dead bugs and trying to climb on life sized shark replicas. I caught this photo of him after I told him to turn around, he had gone too far. He instead ran the opposite direction and when I caught up with him he flashed me this look.
After the museum we had lunch and walked around downtown. Aurora insisted on bringing her backpack this time… even though she soon tired of carrying it and Daddy ended up toting a toddler fox pack around for the rest of the afternoon.
Tomorrow is our last day of vacay and then back to the grind, I think we’re going to go to a cool park in the area and let the kids wear themselves out so we can sleep in on Tuesday. Let’s hope that happens. 🙂
